Preceding the meeting, there was a detailed talk with displays
of all kinds of hiking equipment by Rick Denlinger, owner of Venture
Outfitters in Cypress Point and a very active member of FTA.
Rick presented each one there a 15% discount card for a purchase
in his store.
The meeting was called to order at 1:10, Mitch
Almon, Chair, presiding. There were twenty-five members attending.

year for this park in Tampa. Larry Jackson will be in charge of
the Soup Pots. Bring an ingredient for the soup and bread or dessert
for dinner. The Chapter will furnish the STONES! Volunteers are
needed for the program, etc. Please let Mitch Almon know if you
can help.
Joe Spooner announced he would have another Clam
Bake at Werner Boyce State Park, Port Richey in February. Details
will be announced at the Stone Soup meeting; tickets will be available.
Anyone interested in helping, contact Joe Spooner. This a GREAT
Down-Easter Feast!
We have been asked to participate in a Trail Maintenance
Festival by writer Amy Thompson, who publishes a magazine distributed
by local newspapers. After a discussion, Bonnie Bratby-Carey was
asked to contact Ms. Thompson to find more details and report
back to Mitch.
Activity Leader John Bangos reported that all sections
have been mowed. The only trail with some problems is Richloam.
We will address these problems soon, and continue to trim up our
trails. Meeting was adjourned at 1:50pm.

taken at the May Chapter meeting to decide if we will continue
to have a budget.
A profit of $243.00 was reported for the clambake and Joe Spooner
was given a round of applause. Of this amount, $181.00 is new
capital equipment owned by the Chapter and $62 was added to our
treasury. It was suggested that a "Thank You" be sent
to the provider of the clams because he gave us such a good price.
As a fund raiser, Ethel Palmer has suggested selling a portion
of her T-shirts from the early days of our Chapter, some from
30 years ago.
Old Business: None to discuss
New Business: The Annual Conference of the Florida Trail Association
will be at Umatilla next weekend. We are all encouraged to attend.
Carl Strohmenger will no longer be editing the Footnotes, maintaining
the web site or reporting trail hours. Lori Sahler will be reporting
all trail hours as well as administrative hours. Brigitte Hearn
will maintain our web site and edit the Footnotes along with Mitch
Almon.
At a meeting with the Division of Forestry which is part of the
Division of Agriculture, it was learned that there is nothing
in the state budget for the CARL program.
A restructuring will take place next week for the State Board
of Directors. Dick Bingham will continue to be our representative
to the Board. The Chapter Council for the 18 Chapters will meet
prior to the Board of Directors' meeting as usual. Each chapter
may send two delegates to the Chapter Council meeting.
We are encouraged to participate in Lori Sahler's hikes. She has
organized some nice activities and is having very little participation.
If anyone is interested in distributing literature for the Florida
Trail Association at a table for the Island Fest at Honeymoon
Island on May 6 & 7, contact Lori Sahler.
One more person is also needed to help Ethel Palmer and Brigitte
Hearn at Hillsborough River State Park on May 20.
Hope Michaud sent a report that our membership has dropped by
ten people since our last meeting.
Pat Hutto will be moving soon. We really appreciate all her hikes
and will certainly miss her.
A reminder: Jan Meeks needs all our upcoming activities through
August by April 10.
