Silver Lake Day Hike - Silver Lake -- 6 miles
Meet at McDonalds, SR 50 and I-75(exit301)at 9 a.m.We will then drive to the trailhead and hike the 4 mile loop thru sandhills and along the Withlacoochee River,then on to our scenic lunch spot,alongside the lake.
Bring water,lunch,bug spray and wear appropriate footwear. Hikers are asked not to use cell phones while hiking! There is a $2.00 parking fee.

Potts Preserve Work Hike - Potts Preserve
It's more of the fun we had in October, so come out and participate in a really great weekend. Linda will cook supper, and the campfire should be more than memorable. Chocolate is there, and the river should be beautiful at this time of the year. Camping will be available for the weekend. Call Linda for more information.

Withlacoochee River Park Day Hike - Withlacoochee River Park -- 6 miles
About 6 miles. Nice walk through flat forest, some river hammock some pine flatwoods. Bring water, lunch, dress for weather. About 6 miles east of Dade City. Take River Rd to Auton, turn left from Auton into park. If you cross river, you went 100' too far past Auton.
Meet at Canoe launch parking at 8:30.

Hillsborough River State Park Day Hike - Hillsborough River State Park -- 3.2 miles
We will meet at 9:00am at the beginning of parking lot#4. This parking lot is closest to the pool and the concession stand (Spirit of the Woods Cafe). We will hike the 3.2 mile trail within this State Park. Bring lunch, or money for lunch at the Spirit of the Woods Cafe. Also bring insect repellent, water, hat and anything else you need to make your hike enjoyable. Park entrance fee required. The GPS coordinates at the Main Park Entrance are: N28_08.410 W082_13.630.

Myakka River State Park Myakka River State Park Work Party
The work schedule will include clearing, blazing and maybe bridge repair. If anyone wants to camp, there will be free camping available Friday and Saturday night at the Camp Romaine Young site. We will work on Saturday and possibly on Sunday, if needed. Saturday morning the work crew will gather inside the Rt 72 guard shack at 08:45am, before heading out on the trail. Tell them at the guard house that you are with the FTA and they wave the entrance fee. Camp-ing is remote and you will need all your camping supplies. No electricity or water. We do go back to the main camping area after work to replenish water and ice and if you like, take a shower. Bring lunch, water, gloves, hat, and sun screen.

Withlacooche State River Park Annual Holiday and Suncoast Reunion Hike and Wiener Roast
Charles and Virginia Edwards will again host our annual Holiday Party and SC Reunion at Withlacoochee River Park in Dade City on December 21, 2009. The hike will start at 9:30 AM. Our hotdog lunch will be around 12:30 PM . If you do not want to hike, come for the lunch and visit other members and friends. We would like to see a lot of old members as well as new members join us. Hot dogs, buns and coffee will be provided from the $2.00 registration fee, but bring a dish to share for a lot of people. Lori Sahler has graciously volunteered to be the contact. Please email or call her to tell her how many are coming and what you are bringing. This did not happen last year, and we almost ran out of food! Donations of door prizes will be appreciated. Since this is a holiday (Christmas, Hanukkah, other), please bring your Holiday decorations respective of your culture? We are in need of decorations this year. We hope to see everyone there this year.

Clearwater Beach Day Hike North Clearwater Beach to Caladesi Island State Park
This is a 3 mile hike each way. On the sand all the way! The sun sets at 5:40pm on this date so we should meet about 1 pm at the parking lot for Mandalay Park Public Beach. BRING LOTS OF QUARTERS for the meter. There is a forested trail in the core of the park, as well as a concession stand, restaurant grill and public bathrooms. If you prefer to only do half the hike, you can take the ferry from Honeymoon Island and meet us. Anyone who wants to stay after sunset and have a light repast, please let me know. We can go to Frenchy's...

This is a great way to celebrate one last 2009 workday. We will still have plenty of work for everyone, and Linda will cook a special Christmas Supper. Whoever wants can bring a Christmas dessert: theme chocolate. Camping will be available for the weekend. Call Linda for more information.

Hillsborough River State Park Day Hike - Morris Bridge to Tampa Bypass Canal -- 8 miles
Meet John at 9:00am for a 7-8 miles hike through an area dominated by pines, oaks and palmettos. We will hike on multi-use trails from Morris Bridge Wilderness Park to the mouth of Cow House Creek, where it empties into the Tampa By-pass canal, and return. You will get to experience, on foot, some of the uniquely named trails like "Heart Break", "Grandpa", "Palmetto", "Indian" and others. Bring comfortable shoes, lunch, insect repellent, water, hat and anything else you need to make your hike enjoyable. A nominal Entrance Fee (Apx. $2) per vehicle may be required. The GPS coordinates at that location are: N28_05.910 W082_18.741
